Following a career in medical laboratories, Clair obtained a degree in Psychology and a Master's degree in Health Psychology from the University of Ulster. Since then she has worked on a number of research projects and clinical trials in the health and voluntary sector. 

Clair joined Muscular Dystrophy Ireland in 2014 as their Information and Research Officer. Here, she manages the Information services, co-ordinates the research committee and acts as a representative and advocate on behalf of MDI on a variety of forums. 

Clair's main research interests lie in both the psychosocial adjustment to illness and in the genetic basis and treatment of rare diseases.

Clair was appointed to the NAI board in October 2014.
