Dr. Higgins is the Senior Neuropsychologist in Bloomfield Hospital and Health Services, which provides both inpatient and outpatient services to patients with neurological, neuropsychiatric and mental health conditions. She joined Bloomfield in early 2013 from the National Rehabilitation Hospital. Prior to this she held the role of Clinical Psychologist in St. John of God Hospitallier Services.

Dr. Higgins also currently holds the roles of Clinical Tutor in Trinity College Dublin and Adjunct Lecturer in University College Dublin. She is also a member of the European Huntington's Disease Network working groups.

Dr. Higgins completed her clinical training in University College London (UCL) and holds an MSc. Clinical Neuroscience from the Institute of Neurology, UCL. She has a number of specialist interests in the context of neurological disease, specifically in Huntington's Disease, Parkinson's Disease, the dementia's and in imaging and neurosurgical treatment; she has provided clinical services and completed research across these populations and approaches.

Within her role in Bloomfield, Dr. Higgins works clinically, within research and education, and at an inter-organisational level, to further develop services for patients with neurological and neuropsychiatric conditions across Ireland.
