An EU wide campaign to raise awareness of brain conditions will launch in the EU parliament on Tuesday 15th March. The aim of the "Together Under the Umbrella" campaign is to raise awareness of the needs of people living with brain conditions throughout Europe and provide a common platform for organisations working to support them.

The Neurological Alliance of Ireland will be holding an information event to mark the launch of the campaign. Entitled "Minds Matter: Understanding and Protecting Your Brain" the event will feature leading Irish experts speaking on the latest research on understanding neurological conditions and lifestyle factors that play a role.

NAI will be using the "Together Under the Umbrella" campaign to highlight the issues affecting the over 800,000 people living with neurological conditions here in Ireland as follows:


1. Neurorehabilitation Services are crucial to supporting recovery and preventing disability for people with neurological conditions but neurorehabilitation services in Ireland are completely underdeveloped and underresourced. Read more here


2. A 2015 survey of neurology services carried out by the NAI found evidence of critical understaffing and long waiting lists in neurology centres accross the country. Read more here
