Sonya Gallagher is Head of Rehabilitation Services and Senior Counselling Psychologist with Headway Brain Injury Services, Ireland. She graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 1998 and took a Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology in 2005.

Prior to joining Headway in 2006 Sonya had worked with disadvantaged youth and the traveller community and as a counselling psychologist with the National Rehabilitation Hospital, Dun Laoghaire.

As Head of Rehabilitation Services in Headway, Sonya has spearheaded the achievement of the international accreditation standard for brain injury rehabilitation, CARF, and has been instrumental in developing an outcomes framework for the organisation. Her interests are in person-centred planning in the rehabilitation process and the family impact of brain injury.

Sonya is currently a visiting lecturer on the Doctoral Programme in Counselling Psychology at Trinity College, Dublin and joined the board of NAI in 2015.Sonya was appointed to the board of NAI in October 2015
