22.6.2021 NAI Briefs Politicians on Lack of Progress on Neurorehabilitation Implementation Framework

NAI has been briefing elected representatives on the lack of progress in implementing the Neurorehabilitation Strategy one year on from a commitment in the Programme for Government.
As the national representative umbrella for over thirty neurological patient organisations, the Neurological Alliance of Ireland is concerned at the complete lack of progress that has been made over the past decade and especially since 2019 when a three-year implementation framework was launched with clear commitments to put services in place. As a further indication of the lack of any real commitment, the HSE National Steering Group responsible for implementation of the neurorehabilitation framework has not met at all so far in 2021 and, as members of that group, NAI have no indication of a future meeting date.
NAI has met individually in recent weeks with opposition health spokespersons to highlight their concerns.
