Representatives from the "We Need Our Heads Examined" campaign had a positive meeting with Minister Simon Harris on November 3rd, where they were heartened by his awareness of, and support for the campaign.

NAI Executive Director, Mags Rogers was joined by Counsellor Natalie Treacy, family member and campaign spokesperson. Harriet Doig from MS Ireland and Grainne McGettrick from Acquried Brain Injury Ireland represented two of the fifteen organisations supporting the campaign.

The Minister listened carefully to the campaign messages and the requests of the group for (a) committment to funding in 2017 to support the development of rehabilitation services and (b) a date for the publication of the implementation plan for the National Neuro-rehabilitation Strategy in early 2017.

The Minister confirmed that he would direct the HSE to publish the plan as early as January 2017 and asked to meet the campaign again in January to review progress.

We welcome the support of the Minister and look forward to progress before our next meeting with him.

The work of the campaign in raising awareness with elected representatives continues, with people with neurological conditions, family members and organisations involved in the campaign due to come together to meet elected representatives in Leinster House in November.
