The Patients Deserve Better campaign launched in CHO 4 on Tuesday 21st February, calling for the establishment of a dedicated community neurorehabilitation team in CHO 4, as promised in the 2019 Implementation Framework for the National Neurorehabilitation Strategy.

Speaking at the event, Professor Aisling Ryan, Consultant Neurologist Cork University Hospital highlighted the importance of access to neurorehabilitation services for patients with neurological conditions. Dr John MacFarlane, Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine in Mercy University Hospital spoke in detail about the lack of neurorehabilitation services in CHO 4 , particularly in the community.

Lived experience representatives Denis, Mary, Ivan and Eleanor from Cork spoke about their own challenge in accessing neurorehabilitation services and the difference that having a dedicated community neurorehabilitation team would make to them.
