NAI, together with the Cork Parkinson's Association organised a meeting in Buswells Hotel Dublin on Wednesday 24th November as part of the Patients Deserve Better campaign calling for more neurology nurses.

Throughout November, the campaign has focused on the serious shortage of nurse specialists in neurology in Cork. Based on local and international recommendations, Cork University Hospital needs 20 nurse specialists in neurology. The hospital has just four; a shortfall of 16 nurse specialists caring for people in Cork and surrounding counties.

Nationally, there is a shortfall of over 100 nurse specialists in neurology in the Irish healthcare system. Our thanks to Deputies Danny and Michael Healy Rae, Pa Daly, Colm Burke, Michael Collins, Aindrias Moynihan, Pat Buckley and others who attended the event and to members of the Cork Parkinson's Association and local NAI member groups in Cork who took part via zoom given the COVID19 situation.

Visit patientsdeservebetter.ie for more information on the campaign and to contact your local TD's in Cork to request their support.
