Representatives from the Neurological Alliance of Ireland held an online meeting with Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly on July 25th , as part of our programme of events to mark World Brain Day, to highlight the need for investment in neurological care services.

The group called for action to address the lack of progress in implementing the 2019-2021 framework for the National Neurorehabilitation Strategy as well as highlighting the key asks from the Patients Deserve Better campaign to tackle the shortage of one hundred nurses across neurology services. The campaign has received strong cross-party support, as reflected in the PQs, motions and presentations to the AV room and Oireachtas Committee on Health during this year.

NAI also highlighted the publication of the Global Action Plan on Neurological Disorders and Epilepsy in May this year and called for an update on the plans within his Department around its implementation.
