The ALzheimer Society of Ireland marked its 30th anniversary with a national conference in Dublin yesterday, attracting a range of high profile national and international speakers

UK presenter Angela Rippon spoke of her work with David Cameron's government in the UK to create dementia friendly communities. As the daughter of a dementia sufferer, she is deeply committed to highlighting and addressing the needs of people with dementia and their families.

Dominic Trepel, a health economist based in New York, also addressed the audience, pointed out that the global cost of treating dementia is estimated at €466 billion. 

The Neurological Alliance of Ireland made a detailed submission to the National Dementia Strategy which is due to be delivered by the Government next year
