The NAI submission to the 2017 Consultation on a Statutory Scheme for Home Care is available to download below.

The submission outlines that home care for people with neurological conditions needs to be:

1. Properly resourced with clear criteria for assessment and consistency in allocation nationwide

2. Flexibility in what is provided in terms of home care

3. Integrated with other supports and services coming into the home and, in the case of individuals with complex care needs, part of a case management approach

4. A standardised approach to the design and delivery of intensive home care packages

5. Home care is just one aspect of the range of services needed to enable people to live in their own homes. NAI is calling for the implementation of the Neurorehabilitation Strategy and Dementia Strategy to provide the range of supports needed to make living at home a realistic option for people with neurological conditions
