21.2.2018 Campaign welcomes launch of trauma strategy

The Minister for Health Simon Harris today launched the report of the National Trauma Steering Group, outlining a national trauma framework for Ireland. He also committed to investment in delivering on the strategy, which includes

1. Development of pre-hospital care and transport protocols in order that patients are brought to the most appropriate facility to receive treatment in the right place at the right time

2. Two trauma networks based on a hub and spoke model, each with a designated trauma centre

3.A strong focus on comprehensive patient-centred rehabilitation services with early assessment of rehabilitation needs, as well as enhanced acute, post acute, regional and community rehabilitation to enable patients to acheive their maximum functional potential.

The "We Need Our Heads Examined" campaign  will be particularly focusing on ensuring that the recommendations in relation to rehabilitation services are implemented in full.
