20.6.2012: Agreement should improve acccess to neuro medications

An agreement has been reached between the Department of Health and Children and the Irish Pharmaceutical Healthcare Association which will allow access to new medications.

A number of new drugs were approved by the National Centre for Phramacoeconomics but their release was stalled due to lack of funds.

Included in this list are medications for the treatment of stroke and multiple sclerosis.

The agreement will put in place savings which will allow the HSE to cover the cost of these new medicines. NAI welcomes the agreement as an important step forward in improving access to new treatments for people with neurological conditions.
