On Monday May 12th, patient advocates, NAI members and local representatives came together for an online local meeting to discuss the vital need for a Community Neurorehabilitation Team for the North West.
Watch back now at Community Neurorehabilitation Team for the North West
While community neurorehabilitation teams of 12 full time staff posts have been funded for areas in the East, South and West of Ireland, the North West has team only has funding for less than 3 posts to serve a similar sized population to the other areas. A fully staffed team for the North West was originally promised in 2019 and there was a commitment to expand the team in the 2024 HSE service plan which was never delivered. The NAI are calling for funding for 4 teams in this years budget to deliver on the current Programme for Government commitment to complete the national rollout of community neurorehabilitation teams.
We would like to thank patient advocates Rachel Harte and Eamon McPartlin for sharing their stories of living with a neurological condition and how their lives would greatly benefit from having the much needed access to neurorehabilitation services that they need.
