Neurological Alliance of Ireland Welcomes Launch of HSE Community Neurorehabilitation Team for HSE South West
The Neurological Alliance of Ireland (NAI), the national umbrella of 40 neurological charities, was delighted to attend the launch today by Minister for Children, Disability and Equality of the HSE Community Neurorehabilitation Team for HSE South West marking a significant milestone in the delivery of essential neurorehabilitation services for people living with neurological conditions in the region.
This development represents the culmination of sustained collaboration between the NAI, local patient advocates and their families, and local NAI member organisations who have worked tirelessly over recent years to highlight the urgent need for accessible community-based neurorehabilitation services.
Speaking today, Magdalen Rogers, CEO of the Neurological Alliance of Ireland, said:
“The establishment of the Community Neurorehabilitation Team in HSE South West, with bases in both Cork and Kerry, is a landmark step forward for people living with acquired neurological disability throughout this region, We are proud to have worked alongside local advocates and our member organisations to help make this service a reality. I want to acknowledge the strong support from local representatives and staff within the HSE at both local and national level as everyone was committed to making this service happen for local patients and families.
Over 50,000 people in Ireland each year are diagnosed with a neurological condition. Community neurorehabilitation teams play a vital role in supporting people to rebuild their lives after a neurological event or diagnosis, helping them to achieve their fullest potential and live as independently as possible in their communities.
